The first time I played D&D was summer 1983, aged 11. I've no idea who suggested it or even what it was but it was either Greasy or Colin. Greasy, Colin, Moses, and Lavy all sat in my parent's garage around a plastic table. Colin was DM with the Blue expert book with the Otus cover (Cook?).
My character was an elf, and I can't remember his name. He had 4 or 5 hp and wore chainmail armour. He had magic missile in his spell book.
I remember meeting goblins in the woods and we only had a couple of rounds of combat before I met a sticky end.
I was hooked.
